Choosing South Africa
Interested in a country where you not only see animals, but also see and hear about history, culture, and main attractions too. Then visit South Africa. It is your country! That’s not to say that South Africa doesn’t offer only safaris, it does. But when I organize my groups, I use South Africa as an introduction to Africa and safaris.
This is because there are a lot of attractions, sights that I think someone going to Africa for the first time would appreciate. However, if someone says to me, I want to be on safari for seven or more days, then I will suggest to them, that EAST AFRICA might be a better option for them. I will explain the difference and in the end let the traveler will make the choice, along with suggestions from Destined To Travel.
When I visit that part of Africa some of the sights I include in my South Africa groups are; Table Mountain, Victoria and Alfred’s Waterfront, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Penguin Colony, Cape Town, Soweto, District Six, The Blue Train or Rovos Rail, Regina Mundi Church, Apartheid Museum, Hector Petersen Memorial, Robben Island and Nelson Mandela’s previous home and neighborhood.
These sights offer some of the history, the culture and the sights you’ve read and heard about. I have included many of these areas on all of my South Africa trips and every group has been overwhelmingly supportive and appreciative of the itinerary. There’s always a chance to see the white lion, as my group did in November 2010, but there’s never a guarantee. Of course in addition to these areas, I include a 2 or 3 night introductory safari. I would say that 85% of those who have traveled to South Africa with Destined To travel have been repeat travelers with me to one or more countries, whether Africa or elsewhere.
So let’s talk about whether a visit to South Africa should be your country of choice or possibly another itinerary may suit your needs better. Don’t settle for the least expensive trip on the internet, it isn’t always what will fit your needs and may not give you the benefit of everything you’ll want to see or do.
